Rachel Auras, BEd

My name is Rachel (she/her pronouns) and I am a counsellor-in-training. I am working towards a Master's of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. Prior to my graduate studies, I completed a Bachelor's of Education from the University of Alberta. Alongside this, I have taken training in Families and the Law and Suicide Intervention.

For the past several years I have worked in a variety of different educational settings: from kindergarten to adult learning with focuses on vulnerable populations. Additionally, I have experience as a crisis-line support worker, mentor to children with disabilities, as well as a hospice grief counsellor. These experiences have highlighted the uniqueness in each individual's journey and given me an appreciation for learning the strengths of the individuals I work with. So it's not a surprise that I find myself drawn to humanistic therapeutic approaches, such as solution focused therapy and narrative therapy. However, I believe that the best approach is derived from the client's needs.

In my free time I enjoy spending time in nature with my dog (Emil), reading, practicing yoga, and spending time with friends. Emil and I love to discover new hikes!
